Future stars ready to ignite Launching Pad

Since its inception the Launching Pad series has seen superstars of the caper come through it and looking at this Thursday’s heats at Sandown Park, there’s a heap of young guns with promise of joining the club.

It’s a sweepstakes series restricted to greyhounds with 1-6 wins and no more than 30 starts.

Zap Devere kicks off proceedings in the opening heat. He’s undefeated after two starts, wins at Sandown Park in 29.31 and 29.20 – crazy good.

Tribeca, who most would regard as the series favourite, lines up in heat 2. He’s the fifth fastest greyhound at Sandown Park this year – behind Flying Zulu, Gambella, Mepunga Tully and Big Energy.

One of those rockets mentioned above, Gambella, lines up in heat 5 with a last start 29.04 win next to her name.

The intensity on the track is white hot in a Launching Pad series, with greyhounds of immense ability but limited experience going toe-to-toe.

Fans are also treated to a support card of high interest.

Canya All Class, a star stayer building back up to his preferred distance, competes over 515m in Race 2.

With solid nominations for the advertised Veterans event on the night it’s been split into two races. The first and strongest of them features the mighty Hector Fawley and Sale Cup winner Trooper Tears who’s first up since that major.
