What could be one of the best performances of 2025, Flying Zulu became the 3rd fastest greyhound ever to complete Sandown Park’s 515m by winning the Australian Sprint in an astonishing 28.838 last night.
In what looked to be a terribly sticky speed map with Paw Tika expected to crash wide, it didn’t exactly play out that way. Flying Zulu began well and took advantage of space created by Paw Vortex holding his line outside of Paw Tika.
Flying Zulu led and Big Energy settled 2nd with an imposing task ahead of him that proved too much.
The final margin was 3 1⁄2 lengths with Big Energy still recording a very fast 29.09 as runner-up.
Flying Zulu’s 28.838 has only ever been bettered by Aston Rupee (28.790) and Wow She’s Fast (28.817).
After last week’s win in 28.999, he became the 4th greyhound to have broken 29 seconds more than once – the others being Aston Rupee, Wow She’s Fast and Big Energy.
