The latest on stars off the scene

With heavy rotation in the sport’s limelight we can often forget some names that would usually be front and centre of conversation.

Grey Areas listener Trev wanted the latest news on some big names, so we got it. Anything you’d like to know or learn more about? Get in touch [email protected]

Catch the next edition of Grey Areas on Friday from midday on RSN927 – George Farrugia’s NFL tips are smoking.

Mackenna
Not seen since August which was a win at The Meadows then was withdrawn from Phoenix selection due to injury. She’s recently come on season which will finish at start of March. Connections have decided not to breed with her yet as there is unfinished business on the race track.

Mackenna (8) dominates a Brisbane Cup Consolation

Palawa King
Last seen in September – it feels like ages ago. He’ll be having a 300m trial this Friday locally in country New South Wales. A racing return in a heat of the Fanta Bale Super Stayers is a chance.

Palawa King (5) wins last year’s Super Stayers in classic fashion

Dalwhinnie
He burst onto the scene with a track record breaking run at Wentworth Park. He’s currently on the sidelines and roughly six weeks away from racing. Is the Launching Pad a logical target for him?

Dalwhinnie (2) wins a heat of the Rising Stars at Albion Park

Tim Zoo
He was scratched from a heat of the Warragul Cup a few weeks ago. He’s expected to be nominated for the Temlee. Following that the Sandgroper (WA’s version of the Phoenix) and Dubbo’s Country Classic (605m) are options.

Tim Zoo (1) defeats Field Day (3) in that epic match race on Phoenix night

Miss Envy
Last seen in the form guide when scratched from Golden Ticket heats at Albion Park. She’s got a minor toe injury which forced trainers Steve and Krystal Shinners to send ‘Gary’ to the Greenough kennel. They’re hopeful of having a trial soon at The Meadows and nominating for the Temlee.
