Plenty of dreams in Hume Cup heats

This year’s Hume Cup isn’t short on storylines.

Jeff Britton had a night to remember tonight, taking out the opening two heats of the Hume Cup with litter siblings Mepunga Smokey and Mepunga Surprise.

Paw Yasmin for Team Delbridge held time honours after working the rail with ease in her heat.

And Tasmanian Raider’s Guide has made it into back-to-back Hume Cups and is hoping to do one better than last year’s second placing behind Hector Fawley.

Heat 1: Mepunga Smokey (4) lead all the way in 34.28. Ethanol Volume (7) finished second.

Heat 2: Mepunga Surprise (8) worked the outside of the track to defeat a gallant Alpha Zulu (6)

Heat 3: Raider’s Guide (3) proved too talented, defeating Succeed (8) in a time of 34.19.

Heat 4: Paw Yasmin (1) worked the rail to defeat Zipping Kai (3) in a time of 34.18.

Heat 5: Buddy Monelli (2) claimed the final Hume Cup heat over West Star (7).

Can’t make it on track? The Dream Chasers Festival is live on racing.com with Gareth Hall, James Van de Maat, Mitch Ebeyer and Jason Adams from 6.15pm, Saturday 9 November.
