Team Ennis has a stayer and a scorcher

Jamie Ennis joined the RSN Grey Areas team on Wednesday in the lead up to Ella’s Babe return to Sandown tonight.

18 starts into Ella’s Babe’s career, Ennis is confident in saying she is the polar opposite to her mother and proven group race performer, Ella Enchanted.

“Ella Enchanted had a lot higher speed and had to work out the staying caper whereas Ella’s Babe is a genuine stayer,” Jamie Ennis said.

Ella’s Babe will jump from box seven in race nine at Sandown Park tonight.

“The last 10 days or so I have started to up her work a bit, so we should see a bit more of a sharper bitch.”

“If she runs to expectations, she will probably go to Sydney. At some stage she will have to race there and start chasing group races.”

The dog of Ennis’ who really caught Jason Adams and George Farrugia’s attention was debutant Amron Bobby.

He won by more than nine lengths over the 400 metres at Geelong in a scorching Best of the Night 22.35 seconds.

Amron Bobby (4) goes BANG on debut at Geelong last week.

Jamie did warn listeners not to get too excited about Amron Bobby.

“He exceeded expectations based on what he had shown before we raced him,” Ennis said.

“He was pretty well educated going into that race. There was a few first starters that I would say would have been a few trials behind him which made him look a bit better.”

“The clock said he was very good, but that was before the rain came.”

Amron Bobby steps up to the 460 metres at Geelong tomorrow night from box six, race seven.

“If he comes out and runs okay, we might put him in the Great Chase the week after.”

George Farrugia and Jason Adams tackle the biggest news in greyhound racing on RSN’s Grey Areas every Wednesday and Friday from 12pm. Tune in live, or catch up on your favourite podcast app.
