Legendary race caller Ron Hawkswell has hung up the binoculars exactly 50 years to the day.
Hawkswell spoke to RSN’s Michael Felgate on Racing Pulse about where it all started and why now was the right time to retire.

There is no denying Ron’s voice in etched in the histories of many greyhound trainers and their families.
It’s easy to remember what Hawkswell did for other families, but he was quick to point out what it did for his family.
“I did what I wanted to do,” Hawkswell said.
“I put my daughter through uni and she is now a fully qualified Dental Practitioner.”
“This is the right time to hang up the 1050’s.”
