Shane O’Connell has been appointed as Greyhound Racing Victoria’s (GRV) General Manager, Integrity.
Shane will take responsibility for GRV’s Greyhound Racing Integrity Unit (GRIU), and in doing so will lead the development of general operational policies, processes, and programs as part of GRV’s Leadership Team and serve as GRV’s representative on the Racing Analytical Services Limited Board.
“He brings a wealth of experience in investigation, team management and strategic analysis and planning to this key role,” GRV CEO Stuart Laing said.
“Shane served for more than three decades with Victoria Police, including as a lead member of the Purana and Petra Task Forces and the Homicide Squad.”
“Shane left Victoria Police in 2017 to join GRV as Integrity Operations Manager and became the acting General Manager, Integrity in late 2021.”
During the past five years, Shane has played a central part in establishing the GRIU as one of the world’s leading integrity bodies across all racing codes and in maintaining and then expanding the sport’s racing calendar in Victoria despite recent challenges.
GRV regulates the sport of greyhound racing in the state of Victoria under the Racing Act 1958 (Act), which includes setting standards and ensuring they are met by participants.
