Will Panama’s hot streak continue?

Panama Canal will aim to stretch his winning streak to 12 in Sunday’s $15,550 Road to the Diamond Final at Healesville, Race 6 at 12.14pm.

Trainer Jess Hopkins is pinching herself at what her greyhound is achieving, but warned the competition will be hot on Sunday.

“He keeps on winning but I don’t expect him to just rock up and bolt in tomorrow,” Hopkins said.

“There are some outstanding dogs in this final, but he is really tough and thrives on the competition.”

“He has won all of his nine starts for me and all in the best time of the day, so he is doing some great things.”

“He trials only average on his own, but put him up against other dogs and it’s a totally different story.”

Panama Canal’s overall record stands at 11 wins from 12 starts having not tasted defeat since running 3rd on debut.
