Daily Mail: Paua-ful chaser at Ballarat

G2 Bendigo Cup winner and Warragul 400m track record holder Paua Of Buddy is expected to boost his strike rate to 11 wins from 15 starts in a Mixed 4/5 450m race at Ballarat tonight.

In one of the most intriguing tussles on the card, kennelmates Hannele Bale and Balbina Bale (won three straight) face Jen Jumbo Prawn in a Grade 5 450m event.

2021 G1 Silver Chief placegetter Papi Go Fast stands out in a Mixed 4/5 350m race at Traralgon this evening, while G2 Bendigo Cup finalist Perfect Colour and the in-form Zachary are tipped to win their respective races.

Saturday night’s G3 Country Championship winner Love The City returns to The Meadows in a 525m Restricted Win heat as she continues her preparation for the G3 Launching Pad.

The Watchdog says
? : YULONG YAP (2) will appreciate the smaller line-up and he won’t get a better chance to score again. LOXTON BALE (1) has the good draw, and she is expected to hold the lead at the bend. She is a different chaser when leading and she should regain some confidence today.

The Watchdog says
? : SHANLYN KIM (5) is a powerful type, and she will appreciate the smaller line-up, so with an ounce of luck, she can finish in the top two. WINKCUP BALE (1) is showing loads of potential and he is drawn to lead for a long way.

Multi price:

? $2 Trifecta – 1 / 4 / 2,5,7,8 (50%)

? Must Watch Race ?

Mixed Grade 4/5

? Ballarat ? Race 6
? 450m ⏱ 8:40pm

The Watchdog says ?: Group 2 Bendigo Cup winner and Warragul 400m track record holder PAUA OF BUDDY (1) should be leading throughout, while the in-form BOOM OUT (4) can fill the quinella spot. We have gone wide for third to hopefully secure some value.

‘Must Watch Race’ Preview ?:

It’s only a Mixed 4/5 event, however it features one of the code’s brightest prospects in PAUA OF BUDDY (1) and he is expected to give the record a nudge tonight. He has only had the three starts since resuming and he showed he is at the peak of his powers with a scorching 25.30sec Warragul win. He should be able to assume control quickly and with a clear passage, a sub 24.80sec run could be on the cards. BOOM OUT (4) has been racing in tremendous form of late and he looks the obvious choice for the quinella spot, while ZIPPING PANAMA (5) and PEAKY PUB (8) must be included in your exotics.
