A Group-class field headlined by Ferdinand Boy (28 from 50 – 4 from 6 Box 2) is contesting the $10,000 to-the-winner Sale Sprint Championship final (440m) tonight.
The three-time G2 country cup champion was also triumphant over last year’s G3 TAB Great Chase winner Dr. Tucker (16 from 27) in The Horizon final (440m) at Sale in June.
Omega Dodge (5 of last 6), Soda Prince (3 of last 5 – 24.55sec PB) and Perfect Colour (3 from 7 Trk/Dst – 24.61sec PB) must be strongly considered too.
Sir Harley (4 from 11 – 24.52sec PB) v Ring A Ranger and Queen Kathleen (4 of last 5) v Dr. Slats (3 from 6) should provide terrific duels in the two G3 TAB Great Chase heats.
Omega Tyson (2 from 3 Box 1) v Collinda Beast (11 from 26) is an intriguing event along with Dr. Knuckles (3 of last 5) v G3 placegetter Sovereign Wind v King Of Glory (2 from 4 Box 7).
Back Moo Moo (won last 2) and Stack (4 from 11 Trk/Dst) are expected to bolster their respective strike rates.
Weblec Flare (3 from 4 Trk/Dst) v Rasputin (3 from 6) v Weblec Raider (3 from 9) highlight the first G3 TAB Great Chase heat to be run at Sandown Park, while Don’t Tell Bluey (3 from 6 Trk/Dst) should dominate the second heat.
Aston Amigo (7 from 16) v Zipping Zarbo (30 from 65 – 5 from 9 Box 2) promises plenty, while Loxton Bale (2 from 2) and dual Group finalist Fernando Frank (2 of last 3) should both prevail.
At Healesville, Gleeson (19.07sec PB) v Rumour Is Fact (3 from 5 Trk/Dst) v Untested v G2 finalist Lots Of Chatter should be closely contested, Aston Latham is looking to secure his fourth-straight win, and Loves The Surf will appreciate not chasing potential star Koblenz, which occurred at Shepparton last Monday night.

FERDINAND BOY ? DR. TUCKER ? SODA PRINCE ? PERFECT COLOUR

The Watchdog says ?: We see an elite line-up battle it out for the $10,000 first prize and superstar FERDINAND BOY (2) looks poised to add another feature to his already impressive CV. He missed the kick in his heat and was crowded in the initial stages, however he was able to barge his way through as they reached the first bend and from thereon, he did not look back when carving out a sizzling 24.73sec. This race is obviously loaded with early speed, so he cannot afford to miss the kick again, however I am expecting him to step well, and he should be able to hold the top through the bend. DR. TUCKER (4) was beaten in his return to the track last week, but he was far from disgraced when narrowly beaten in a scorching 24.61sec. That was his first race since July, so he will strip a lot fitter for that run, however he would have preferred to be drawn inside ‘Ferdinand.’ The two big guns have very similar early pace, so if they step evenly, ‘Tucker’ may not be able to cross in the initial stages and he may have to settle for the quinella spot. SWEET DEMI (1) could be the value runner in the event. She finally returned to her brilliant best with a top 24.75sec heat win and she has come up with the good draw tonight, so if they bunch through the bend, she may take advantage of a rails run and cause a boil over. SODA PRINCE (7) and PERFECT COLOUR (8) both deserve a mention. They have carved out some scintillating wins in recent weeks and if the inside division happen to make a mistake, one of them could assume control through the bend and they are hard to get past when in the clear.
