The challenges are coming thick and fast for exciting youngster Dynamic Prince early in his career and he’ll face another tough test at Shepparton on Monday night.
After winning his first two starts, Dynamic Prince (3 from 4) was thrown in the deep end by trainer Peter Presutto, tackling the G2 Healesville Cup heats at just his third run but the rookie speedster was up to the task, running a close third to superstar Tiggerlong Tonk.
It won’t get much easier at Shepparton tonight, where Dynamic Prince will face several other rising stars in Jason Thompson’s duo In The Spotlight (4 from 5) and True Collinda (5 from 10), as well as Jimmy Auld’s Soda Titan (4 from 12 – 3 from 5 Trk/Dst) in The Watchdog’s Must Watch race.
Jason Thompson will produce another Shepparton headline act in last start G2 Healesville Cup finalist Mr. America (9 from 18 – 2 from 2 Trk/Dst), which is drawn to continue his impressive form since resuming from a lengthy lay-off.
Also not to be missed is what shapes as a thrilling speed duel between former 385m track record holders Oriental Amber (24 from 49 – 4 from 6 Trk/Dst – 5 from 9 Box 2) and Benchester (25 from 70).
Correy and Samantha Grenfell have two key contenders in the Grade 5 450m final in Kinson Bale (8 from 34 – 3 from 4 Trk/Dst) and Yohan Bale (10 from 37), with Michelle Mallia’s Boom Out (7 from 14) also sure to be prominent.
Mister Frank (8 from 25) will take aim at back-to-back victories after winning in fast time a week ago.
Meanwhile at Warrnambool, Bett’s Blues (8 from 24 – 3 of past 5) is among the standouts.

The Watchdog says ?: Intriguing line-up which sees a host of exciting youngsters set for battle. IN THE SPOTLIGHT (4) is expected to start favourite and rightly so, having won four of five to date (80%), and he carved out a dynamic 25.15sec in his heat win. He has proven to be a reliable beginner and he did spear the lids in his heat and that allowed him to go a blistering 6.52sec to the first marker. Obviously, if he produces something similar, he can pounce on the lead and score, however tonight’s event features an abundance of early pace, so he is likely to cop a lot more pressure in the initial stages. His kennel mate TRUE COLLINDA (8) was a dominant 25.27sec heat winner and she has more scope for improvement. She has only had the two runs for her new kennel and appears to be on the improve and if the inside division happens to bunch up, she could be off and gone through the bend and she can push the 25 seconds barrier. SODA TITAN (3) has busted the magical 25 seconds barrier here previously, so he is more than capable of scoring. But he does get back early in his races, so he will need a few things to go his way in the run. DYNAMIC PRINCE (2) is the intriguing runner. He has only had the four starts, but he has won three, and on each occasion he has shown a breathtaking turn of foot once balanced. He will need a few things to go his way, but with the vacant draw inside, he should get a nice run through and he will be in contention as they negotiate the bend. It really is a cracking line-up and it will be worthwhile following a number of these runners going forward.
