‘Six-pack’ for Thompson?

Greyhound racing aficionados can sit back at home and enjoy a ‘six-pack’ at Ballarat on Friday night.

But don’t get too relaxed on the sofa – it’s not of the beverage kind!

It’s champion Pearcedale trainer Jason Thompson with a ‘super sextet’ – and he says all six will be competitive.

However, Thompson adds Collinda Beast (pictured with Thompson’s daughter, Holly), Decimate and Typhoon Sammy are his best chances.

Here’s the ‘tale of the tape’, and Thompson’s quick thoughts, on his ‘gang of six’.

Race 1 (6.55pm) – ANTICIPATING (Box 6) – Maiden (450m)
2 starts: 0-1-0
“He’s got ability but just needs to keep improving.”

Race 3 (7.38pm) – IN THE SPOTLIGHT (Box 2) – Grade 7 (390m)
2 starts: 1-0-0
NB. Litter brother of Rebellious (won 11 from 16).
“He’s a handy dog… I’d prefer him drawn middle to wide, and he’ll need to get the start right… Potentially, he’ll get up to 500m.”

Race 4 (7.55pm) – COLLINDA BEAST (Box 8) – Grade 5 (545m)
23 starts: 10-0-0
NB. Won 5 from 10 for Thompson.
“He’s dropping back from ‘700m’… He’s well suited out wide and a very good chance.”

Race 5 (8.12pm) – DECIMATE (Box 1) – Mixed 6/7 (450m)
2 starts: 2-0-0
“He’s a nice young dog… He’s doing everything right and if he gets the start right, he’ll be hard to beat… But I would prefer him drawn middle to wide.”

Race 8 (9.20pm) – TYPHOON SAMMY (Box 7) – Mixed 4/5 (450m)
19 starts: 12-0-3
NB. Ex-NSW flier. Won his first start for Thompson at Sale in a slick 24.70sec (Best).
“He’s a nice type and came to us in good form… His first run for us was exceptional… Hopefully he can continue on and tackle some better races later on.”

Race 10 (10.00pm) – OVERSHADOWED (Box 5) – Mixed 4/5 (390m)
25 starts: 11-3-4
NB. Won 3 from 5 for Thompson.
“I like the dog… He got severely galloped on last start and has since been freshened up… He’ll be better suited once back to 450m… It’s a tricky draw, but he’s a very good race dog and hard chaser.”

PAWNOTE: A $1 six-leg Multi – based on expert form analyst The Watchdog’s assessment – would return almost $150 if all six won.

WATCH: Collinda Beast (6) clocks a smart 37.23sec (Best) over 650m at Sale on July 23.
