Potential superstar Aston Rupee, widely regarded as the fastest greyhound in the land, will headline Thursday night racing at Sandown Park.
Brilliant winner of the G3 Speed Star last month, Aston Rupee (10 from 19 – 2 from 2 Box 3 – 29.06sec PB) returns to Sandown in a strong Grade 5, where his opposition includes last start G1 Australian Cup finalist Hill Top Jack (13 from 30 – 3 from 5 Trk/Dst) and Shadow Mist (27 from 65 – 6 from 9 Box 2), which drops back to 515m after finishing 2nd in the middle distance G2 McKenna Memorial at his most recent appearance
G1 Sapphire Crown finalist Persian Goddess (11 from 26) scored impressively at her 595m debut last Sunday and will tackle G1 Sandown Cup finalist Kenny The Brute (9 from 32) and exciting distance prospect Mepunga Ruby (8 from 13 – 6 of past 7 – 2 from 2 Trk/Dst).
In the following race, another emerging staying talent in Major Sacrifice (6 from 21) is chasing a fourth straight win.
There will be no place to hide in a three-way clash between Invictus Rising (8 from 17 – 3 from 6 Trk/Dst), Rebel Riot (2 from 2 Trk/Dst – 2 from 3 Box 4) and Riccarton Rick (7 from 19 Trk/Dst).
There’ll also be great quality on display at Warrnambool, with the ‘main event’ a showdown between G1 Silver Chief finalists Aussie Secret (24 from 47 – 5 of past 6) and Jepara (15 from 42 – 3 from 4 Trk/Dst – 4 from 7 Box 4).
Also not be missed is former Ballarat 450m record-holder Pirate Pete (12 from 34 – 3 from 4 Box 1) clashing with another Silver Chief finalist in Earn The Answers (10 from 33 – 2 from 3 Trk/Dst), while G2 Warrnambool Cup finalist Got The Torque (12 from 43 – 4 of past 5) is looking to continue his excellent recent form.
