Trainer Jason Thompson had planned for classy sprinter Immunity to be in Queensland this week, lining up in last night’s G1 Brisbane Cup final alongside brother Equalizer, who won the race. Watch
But a minor setback kept Immunity (15 from 21) at home and she’ll be one of Friday’s headline runners when she contests the Vic Bred Grade 5 Final over 500m at Bendigo, drawing a close to the club’s Winter Carnival.
Immunity has box four to contend with, along with key rivals Daph’s Ascend (2 from 4 Box 1) – tipped on top by The Watchdog – and Hill Top Jack (11 from 27), a litter brother to budding superstar Koblenz.
Another Bendigo highlight will be the clash between record-breaker Benchester (23 from 64 – 23.65sec PB) and Rocket Boy (22 from 46 – 23.61sec PB), while later in the meeting, blueblood Aston Gigante (2 from 3), a litter brother to stars Aston Rupee and Aston Fastnet, is set to continue the bright start to his career.
Meanwhile at Sale, multiple Group finalist Dream Wizard (5 from 11 Trk/Dst – 3 from 6 Box 6) will be chasing back-to-back victories at the track.
At Geelong, the prolific Fortuna Bale (27 from 61) returns to the circle chasing a third straight victory after winning her last two in impressive fashion.

The Watchdog says ?: Cracking affair with superstar IMMUNITY (4) going to work after recording a breathtaking 27.94sec heat win. She is easily the best credentialled and most talented chaser in the event, however she has not faired too well with the box draw. Last week she exited the red and was able to assume control soon after box rise, but with an abundance of pace inside and out today, she may get crowded and will have to come from off the pace to score. DAPH’S ASCEND (1) was a gutsy 28.20sec heat winner and she is drawn to get all the breaks today. She went through the first marker in a dazzling 6.49sec last week and with a similar performance today she should assume control and she has proven in the past that she is extremely hard to get past when out in front. ALL INN BILLY (8) is a jet and, with an ounce of luck in running, he will take a power of beating. He possesses a blistering turn of foot once balanced and with no runner on his outside, he should get plenty of room to move in the initial stages. HILL TOP JACK (3) was far from disgraced in his heat placing and he is more than capable of winning a race of this calibre, whilst REBEL RIOT (7), although poorly drawn, is a serious chance if he happens to time the start.
