Bold and the bet-iful

One astute punter could have been fine dining ‘champagne and caviar’ style following a $5,000 outlay on Junk Food Junkie ($3.20) at The Meadows on Wednesday.

Exiting smartly from Box 3, Junk Food Junkie (pictured) gave her rivals food for thought in leading from go-to-whoa in a Grade 5 heat (525m). The Jessica Sharp trained speedster had 5.5L to spare over All Show in 29.96sec (replay below).

It was Junk Food Junkie’s seventh win from 22 starts, with the punter collecting $16,000.

Meanwhile, another shrewd bettor who outlaid $5,000 on Don’s Boy ($3.00) at Bendigo on the same day, lined their pockets with $15,000.
