Blazing finish snares long-distance Gr8 Eight

Blazing Cartier has upstaged her more fancied male rivals to win tonight’s Gr8 Eight event at Sandown Park over the 715m staying trip.

Celebrating her 50^th start and lining up against a host of Group 1 winners True Detective, Tornado Tears, Rajasthan and Here’s Tears, Robert Britton’s underrated star took control of the race in the home straight to get up at odds of $9.80.

Rajasthan, the 2019 RSN Sandown Cup winner, led for much of the journey before hanging on for third place, while new-kid-on-the-block He Shall Power came from last to run an eye-catching 2^nd.

Blazing Cartier (My Bro Fabio – Esparza) has now won 14 races and the $10,500 first prize took her career earnings up to $105,455.
