Blazing finish snares long-distance Gr8 Eight

Blazing Cartier has upstaged her more fancied male rivals to win tonight’s Gr8 Eight event at Sandown Park over the 715m staying trip.

Celebrating her 50th start and lining up against a host of Group 1 winners True Detective, Tornado Tears, Rajasthan and Here’s Tears, Robert Britton’s underrated star took control of the race in the home straight to get up at odds of $9.80.

Rajasthan, the 2019 RSN Sandown Cup winner, led for much of the journey before hanging on for third place, while new-kid-on-the-block He Shall Power came from last to run an eye-catching 2nd.

Blazing Cartier (My Bro Fabio – Esparza) has now won 14 races and the $10,500 first prize took her career earnings up to $105,455.

WATCH: Blazing Cartier (5) times her run to perfection after overcoming early interference.
