‘Boomer’ namesake to make debut in the West

WA greyhound Be Like Boomer is set to make her debut tonight at Mandurah.

Lining up in Race 1, Box 5 at 8.28pm (Melbourne time), Be Like Boomer is named after AFL great and GRV ambassador, Brent ‘Boomer’ Harvey.

“I’m a North Melbourne supporter and a big fan of Boomer obviously,” said trainer Justin Wood.

“Most of my family are North Melbourne supporters, so I was born into it, and I’m also related to former coach, Dean Laidley.”

The Nambeelup trainer believes the Be Like Boomer is in with a good chance tonight.

“She has good early pace, has plenty of talent and she chases hard. She’s only little at 24.6 kilograms, but she likes being the boss in the kennels at home, even though she’s one of the younger greyhounds in the team.”

Wood said he expects Be Like Boomer to be odds of around $3.50.
