Mount Wallace greyhound trainer Correy Grenfell is in awe of the field assembled in tonight’s Group 3 Easter Gift at Sandown Park.
“I know everyone is saying it, but it truly is like a Group 1 race,” Grenfell said.
Grenfell’s Horsham Cup winner Tiggerlong Tonk jumps from box two in the $25,000 to-the-winner feature.
“Absolutely any dog could win this race and I am very happy that we are drawn closer to the rail to give us every opportunity to pull off this win.”
“For him to win the Easter Gift I think he needs to have room in the early stages – which he has the talent to do – because there are some strong dogs in the field I don’t want on his tail.”
Last week at Sandown Park, Tiggerlong Tonk finished second behind fellow Easter Gift contender Hard Style Rico.

“Tonk worked hard throughout the entire race on the outside of the track and I was really happy with the run and even happier that we are drawn in box two on Thursday night.”
Tiggerlong Tonk won the Group 2 $67,000 Horsham Cup in March after some challenging times for the Grenfell kennel who were struck with a Canine Gastro virus.
“We ended up bringing Tonk into our house to isolate him from the greyhounds who were unwell with the gastro bug. We made sure he had no contact with the other dogs and that we didn’t carry any germs with us when we moved from looking after the rest of the property and caring for him.”
“It was hard work having a race dog in the house with four kids, but we made it work and won a Horsham Cup.”
The Group 3 Easter Gift is race six tonight and will jump at 8.49pm.
