Iron dog Slingshot Hammer is the $2.90 favourite in tonight’s $25,000 to-the-winner GRNSW Middle Distance Championship Final (600m) at Dapto at 9.49pm.
Slingshot Hammer, the fastest heat winner in 34.44sec, has had 69 starts for 29 wins and earned $172,000 in prize money.
“He makes his own luck and has been such a good dog,” trainer Robert Camilleri said.
“We’ve been able to race him all over Australia because he has such a good temperament.”
Camilleri has a second contender in tonight’s final, Awesome Catch ($23), winner of the Group 3 Gawler Cup on November 3.
Andrea Dailly-trained littermates Rockstar Melody ($5) and Rockstar Prince ($4.80) round out the other Victorians in the race.
