With all due respect to 1980s Australian pop rock band Gang Gajang, the lightning won’t be ‘cracking over canefields’, it will be ‘Kraken’ over The Meadows tonight.
The Watchdog has had a ‘laugh and think’ before selecting Kraken Lightning (box eight) in a Free For All over 525 metres.
And punters should pounce on that ‘certain texture, that certain smell’ of the expert form analyst’s confidence. This is his ‘Sounds of Then’ – and now!
Prepared at Toolleen by Rodney Clark, Kraken Lightning has never finished out of a place at The Meadows, where her record reads two wins, six seconds and one third from nine starts. She also has a 30.07sec personal best at MGRA headquarters.
And she’s notched two wins and two seconds in five starts from the ‘pink’ alley.
Kraken Lightning’s overall record is an imposing 23 wins, 15 seconds and seven thirds from 63 starts.
Clark will be chasing a kennel double, as in the very next race he rugs Kraken Dust (box four) – also The Watchdog’s top pick – in a Grade 5 heat (600m).
Check out Kraken Lightning’s (box four) win in a Grade 5 final (525m) at The Meadows on August 3 this year:
