Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, according to showgirl Lorelei Lee (Marilyn Monroe) in 1953 musical comedy Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

But Buy Me Diamonds should be a punter’s best friend at Sale tonight. The Watchdog is tipping a sparkling performance by the classy speedster in a Free For All over 440 metres.

Trained at Pearcedale by Wayne Vassallo, Buy Me Diamonds (box six) will be assisted by a vacant box on his immediate inside. Regardless, the ‘green’ alley shouldn’t pose any problem as he registered a slick 29.53sec win from that draw at Sandown Park (515m) back in December last year.

Buy Me Diamonds, who has 16 wins from 43 starts to his credit, has contested two Group race finals this year. He was a finalist in the Group 2 Horsham Cup (485m) and Group 3 Easter Gift (515m) at Sandown Park.
