WARRNAMBOOL CUP: Zambora Brockie wins in front of massive crowd

Zambora Brockie has won tonight’s $67,000 2016 Group 2 Warrnambool Cup in front of more than 1,800 spectators.

After getting away to an explosive start to led by almost two lengths, the Anthony Azzopardi-trained greyhound was challenged by Aston Bolero, who stole the lead entering the turn before Zambora Brockie regained the lead 50 metres from the finish line.

“I thought he was the best chance of my two finalist tonight. I just felt he was drawn to get a clear run,” Azzopardi said.

In claiming his 16th career win from 26 starts, Zambora Brockie snared a $47,000 first prize, taking his career prize money earnings up to $174,223.
