GRV has proudly delivered the Great Chase for the past 21 years, attracting the best young greyhounds in the state while providing a social outlet and fundraising opportunities for people with intellectual or physical disabilities.
The 2023 series drew to a close on 18 October in what was a memorable day at The Meadows, with exciting young greyhound Explicit winning the Grand Final.
The Great Chase incorporates a community program held across the majority of Victoria’s greyhound racing clubs, which welcome local organisations from within Victoria’s disability sector to enjoy a day out at the races and the chance to share in $45,000 in cash giveaways.
The Great Chase is a state-wide racing series for up-and-coming greyhound stars who compete in heats at their local racetrack with the aim to progress into the rich semi finals and grand final at The Meadows. More than $230,000 in prizemoney is up for grabs across the entire series, which is run during September/October each year.
First run in 2003, GRV’s Great Chase series involves a community program which has raised around $800,000 for groups that care for the intellectually and physically disabled.
Groups come together to enjoy a day out at their local racetrack where they receive a free meal, a chance to socialise and meet some of the heroes of our sport… the greyhounds.
The groups are randomly allocated competing greyhounds to cheer for on the day, with the best performing dogs winning prize money for their respective groups.
The Great Chase community program is open to any organisation based in Victoria which cares for the intellectually or physically disabled.
