Late Night News nominated for Fanta Bale Stayers

Up-and-coming New South Wales stayer Late Night News will be a strong contender in heats of the Fanta Bale Stayers this Saturday night at The Meadows.

He trialled last Wednesday over 730m and set a time of 42.89 – for context, roughly two lengths slower than Saturday’s Group 1 Zoom Top won by Lanfranco.

In his last start he was runner up to Ethanol Water in the Group 1 Gold Cup at Albion Park. Not long before that a winner of the Group 2 Summer Distance Plate at Wentworth Park.

He’s got some serious promise and will entertain with his drop back and run on racing style.

Last year’s winner Palawa King will not be nominated despite his encouraging return to racing at Dubbo last Saturday. However, the Group 1 Rookie Rebel (600m) is likely to be on his agenda.

Nominations for the Fanta Bale Stayers close on Wednesday afternoon with fields to be published not long after, which includes semi-finals of the Australia Cup.
