Ethanols produce fire in McKenna heats

Ethanol Water and Ethanol Volume combined to produce a winning double for Team Dailly in heats of the McKenna Memorial at Sandown Park last night.

Ethanol Volume unsurprisingly handled his wide draw perfectly in the opening heat. It was a great example of his elite strength and will to win having overcome inconveniences in running.

Ethanol Water completed the double for Team Dailly in the third and final heat. She dominated from go-to-woah and set a insanely fast time of 33.789 – the fastest of the year and 9th fastest since 2020.

“We usually like racing them weekly but we kept them fresh with hope that they’d begin the way they have tonight,” said trainer Tom Dailly.

The litter bred, owned and raced by Team Dailly turned 2-years-old in March and have won 45 races.

Orli Bale was an all-the-way winner of the other McKenna heat for Team Grenfell in a sharp time of 34.15. It was his first start since June 8 and he returned faultlessly.

Others who progressed to next Thursday’s $40,000-to-the-winner Group 2 final were American Queen, Big Energy, Stomping, Make No Promise and Osanna Bale.
