Faster than a ‘Silver Bullet’

Lara’s “Team Ennis” (Brooke and James) is chasing its second $37,750 Group 3 RSN Silver Bullet (525m) in four years at The Meadows on Melbourne Cup Eve.

James took home a $25,000 first prize courtesy of Barooga Brett – which narrowly defeated Simon Told Helen in 2019.

And on Monday night his wife, Brooke, will attempt to follow suit with track specialist Amron Boy.

A winner of five races from eight starts over 525m at The Meadows, Amron Boy (Box 3) is engaged in Race 8, 9.16pm.

Amron Boy, owned in similar interests to that of Barooga Brett, has won 11 races (with five seconds and one third) from 25 starts. He set a flying 29.55sec PB at The Meadows on August 20.

The July ’20 Zambora Brockie x Miami Fernando speed machine is also second reserve for the $150,000 to-the-winner G1 Topgun (525m) – at The Meadows on November 5 – which is ‘first cab off the rank’ during the inaugural $4.1m world’s richest Dream Chasers Festival.

Amron Boy is chasing a breakthrough ‘black type’ victory, having finished second in the G2 Flying Amy Classic (Albion Park) and sixth in the G1 Maturity Classic (The Meadows).

However, he’s far from a Silver Bullet ‘shoo-in’.

The field comprises sprinters the ilk of Titan Blazer (Box 1, $3.80) and Fernando Mick (Box 2, $5.50) which are considered Amron Boy’s ($2.80) main rivals, according to Sportsbet’s fixed odds market.

Meanwhile, six heats of the G1 Hume Cup (600m) for middle-distance marvels will also be staged on the program. Each heat winner receives $10,000.

Major players in the series, which culminates in a $75,000 to-the-winner final, are:

Heat 1 (Race 2, 7.06pm) – Fernando’s Quest (Box 6, $2.80), Aston Ulysses (Box 2, $3.10) and Mepunga Mustang (Box 1, $3.20)
Heat 2 (Race 3, 7.26pm) – Manila Dusk (Box 4, $3.20), Xinmin Bale (Box 3, $4.40) and Golden Quest (Box 2, $4.50)
Heat 3 (Race 4, 7.48pm) – Hummock (Box 4, $3.90), Zoha Bale (Box 3, $4.20) and Wheel And Go (Box 6, $4.80)
Heat 4 (Race 5, 8.14pm) – Dookie Devil (Box 3, $3.00) and Triumph (Box 2, $4.60)
Heat 5 (Race 6, 8.32pm) – Jarick Bale (Box 3, $1.90) and Mepunga Warrior (Box 7, $3.20)
Heat 6 (Race 7, 8.54pm) – Amron Dan (Box 5, $3.30), Ariarne Bale (Box 1, $4.40) and Pocket Money (Box 2, $4.60)

WATCH: AMRON BOY (B4) defeats Silver Bullet adversary PADDY WANTS PATS (B3) by 1.6L in 29.98sec at The Meadows on October 22.
