Braemar Prince (17 from 37 – 2 from 2 Box 1), Victorian Straight Track Championship runner-up Smart As Jack (6 from 13 Trk/Dst) and Jordanville Jet will provide stiff opposition to Paua Of Oscar, while the latter’s kennelmate Paua Of Janie (7 from 11) is expected to prevail in a Grade 5 350m heat.

Hello George (3 from 4 Box 1) v Soda Pee Wee (3 of last 4 – 16.53sec PB) v Slingshot Reaper (2 of last 3 – 5 from 8 Trk/Dst) v She’s So Lovable should be an exciting 300m Free For All.

Aston Latham (6 from 8 – 5 from 6 Trk/Dst) v Adonis Sands (2 of last 4) v Smokin’ Grille battle in the Restricted Win (350m) final, while Main Force v Mt. View Audrey (5 of last 9) v Ivy Isobel (2 from 2 Trk/Dst) v Ha Ha Magoo (2 of last 3) should be competitive.

Paddy’s Marvel (14 from 24) is the standout chaser at Horsham, while Western Blazer v G3 finalist Aston Ulysses v Studley is an intriguing affair.

The Watchdog says ?: Very even affair and any one of the eight runners could get the cash. PAUA OF OSCAR (2) is a gifted speedster and he returned to straight track racing with a dashing 19.41sec win here last Sunday and although he will need some luck early, he looks well placed again. He can be a little hit or miss early and I’m expecting him to settle in the middle of the pack, however the leading division are quite even, so they should be bumping up front and he will be able to pick them off late. SMART AS JACK (3) has not had a lot of luck in his most recent performances, however he comes into this after a month off. I’m expecting him to regain some much needed confidence and he loves racing up the straight. BRAEMAR PRINCE (1) had been struggling for a little while, but he has come back in great style having won five of his past six in blistering fashion and he is drawn to figure prominently again. He is unbeaten from this draw and is five-of-11 (45 percent) this track/distance, so if he can do everything right at box rise, he should be able to settle in the top two and make a big impact. JORDANVILLE JET (7) has a tremendous record here over both distances and he tends to scout wide in his races, so if the inside division happen to bump early, he could be off and gone mid race. REAR VIEW MIRROR (5) and RACK CITY (8) are both straight-track specialists as well and although they rise slightly in class today, they are both more than capable types.
