Daily Mail: Prince set to reign at Horsham

Braemar Prince (16 from 35) is in career-best form presently and The Watchdog is selecting him to extend his winning streak to five races in a Grade 5 485m heat at Horsham tonight.

Big Gordy, Stiff Wind (2 from 4 Box 4) and Vardan Bale are considered the main dangers to Braemar Prince.

She Can Excite (2 from 4 Box 1) v It’s A Brew v Dark Compass v Killashandra v Spring Cobra should be a tough contest along with Ten Dollar Slaps v G1 finalist Nihari Bale v Crackerjack Carr v Saint Mac.

Lektra Heckler is tipped to break through at his second start, while Poison Sky, Mepunga Gertie (2 of last 3) and Spring Scout (11 from 28) are all expected to prevail according to The Watchdog.

At Healesville, Anita Sonic Love (10 from 19 – 19.06sec PB) is eyeing four straight wins, while the 300m Free For All features Blackpool Astro, Soda Diamond (11 from 22 – 16.54sec PB), Soda Pee Wee (won last 2) and Jordanville Jet (8 from 10 Trk/Dst).

Multiple Group finalist Amarillo Highway, On The Bit (5 from 8), That’s Easy (2 of last 3) and Alamosa Bill are well fancied in their respective races.

The Watchdog believes Dewana Milo (2 from 5), Bag Of Tricks (2 of last 3) and Aston Bomber should be victorious in their respective races at Geelong.

Gung Ho Hunter (4 from 11 – 3 from 6 Trk/Dst) and Paua Of Janie (6 from 9) both appear too classy for their rivals at Warragul tonight, while Coolant (15 from 27) v Oberon Bale (5 from 12) v He Shall Rodger v Rear View Mirror is a terrific Mixed 4/5 460m race.

White Flower v Extreme Harriet v El Cazador v Ha Ha Macgyver (3 from 4 Box 8) and Aston Tango v Maverick Nacho should be great battles as well.

BIG GORDY ? BRAEMAR PRINCE ? STIFF WIND ? VARDAN BALE

? Horsham ? Race 8 ? 485m 6:10pm

The Watchdog says
?: BRAEMAR PRINCE (3) has always shown enormous potential and after a disappointing stretch, he appears to have returned to his brilliant best with four dynamic wins on the spin. Three of those wins have been at this track over 410m and he steps up to 485m tonight and that should not pose too many problems. He is armed with dynamic pace soon after box rise and with limited speed drawn inside, he should be able to pounce on the early lead. The long run home can be a concern at times, however he has won at Ballarat over 450m in good time when coming from off the pace, so the extra distance will not pose too many problems and he could press the 27-second barrier. VARDAN BALE (7) appears to be the likely danger. He has been taking on some smart types in town and he is far better than his form indicates. He does like to stay wide in his races and the big track should suit. I do not think he can reel the favourite in, but he can definitely give him a fright and fill the quinella spot. BIG GORDY (2) and STIFF WIND (4) round out the chances. ‘Gordy’ can be a little slow to begin but he will charge to the line and is a must for exotic bets, while STIFF WIND can show early speed at times, and he was far from disgraced when placed here last time out. Fingers crossed the ‘Prince’ can handle the rise in distance and we might see him head to town in the coming weeks.

TAB fixed odds: $1.60 Place
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539067/race/6

The Watchdog says
? : JORDANVILLE JET (5) is a track specialist and with the smaller line-up, he should gain a clear passage throughout, and it is hard to see him missing a top two finish. BRAEMAR PRINCE (3) is airborne at present, and he should be leading throughout. EL CAZADOR (5) has turned in some colossal performances of late and with an ounce of luck early, he should be able to charge into the money.

? $4 Win – SHE CAN EXCITE

TAB fixed odds: $3.10 Win

The Watchdog says
? : She appeared to be a few lengths off her best for a while, however she appeared to show a return to form when placed at Warrnambool last Thursday. She took on an elite line-up last time and after missing the kick, she was able to balance up mid-race and work her way through the field before finishing a close third. From the good draw today, I am expecting her to begin a lot better and with her tremendous turn of foot, she should be able to assume control after 50m or so and that should be the end of the section. There are a couple of strong types drawn out wide, but she has proven in the past that she is very hard to get past when in the clear.

? $1 Trifecta – 3 / 7 / 1,2,4 (33.33%)
? Horsham ? Race 8 ? 485m ⏱ 6:10pm     ? Must Watch Race ?
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539066/race/8

The Watchdog says
? : BRAEMAR PRINCE (3) has a fair bit on these and he should be leading throughout. VARDAN BALE (7) is ideally drawn out wide and with a clear passage can fill the quinella spot. Third spot is a little more open, so we have gone with three runners to be safe.

? $1 Win – OBERON BALE     ? Lucky Longshot ?
? Warragul ? Race 8 ? Box 2 ? 460m ⏱ 9:05pm
TAB fixed odds: $11 Win
Form ? https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539067/race/8

The Watchdog says
? : He has not had a lot of luck in his past two but prior to that he recorded impressive wins at The Meadows and Sandown Park, and he looks drawn to get all the breaks tonight. COOLANT (1) is expected to roll to the front, and he will be carving out serious sectionals, however the last 40m is a slight concern and if ‘Oberon’ can follow him through early and be within three lengths as they corner for home, he might be able to run over the top late.
