COVID-19: Boxing Process To Revert Back to Four-Wave Model

As of today, greyhound tracks throughout Victoria will revert back to the four-wave model for boxing greyhounds rather than the eight-wave model.

The changes were put in place following advice from the Chief Health Officer to adhere to social distancing.

GRV’s Integrity Unit (GRIU) reviewed the eight-wave model and sought advise to revert back to the four-wave model of boxing greyhounds.

“We feel confident with the support and engagement of participants that we can met our social distancing obligations under the four-wave model,” General Manager Racing Greg Kerr said.

Under GAR 51 (10) Victorian greyhounds will now revert to the four-wave model; that being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8.

“Participants must strictly adhere to a 1.5m minimum distance between each other both before and after boxing for this to work.”

“We thank everybody for their anticipated assistance with this so we can continue to function greyhound racing successfully.”
