The 2018 and 2019 Longwood Cup winners, Raloo Barbara and Bees On Fire, go head to head at Benalla on Sunday in the McRae Holden 2019 Benalla Cup.
The opening event on the 12 Event card, will see Gojek face Gotham Queen, Lonesome Spring up against Bear Left and Standing Bear compete against Zambora Andy.
Roger Express (pictured, inset with trainer Josh Moody) makes a return to the slips on Sunday at Benalla in Event 2. Not a first for Roger, but a first for his trainer Josh Moody.
“I am so excited to experience coursing. It has been a great tool for Roger in the past,” Josh said.
Roger is a winner of 13 races from 86 starts, including 30 minor placing. His three coursing ventures have seen him return to the circle track for success.
His first course at Benalla in 2018, first up on the circle he finished second at Geelong, and then picked up a city win at The Meadows over the 525 metres paying $12.
Rogers second course saw him claim the Watnut Vet Clinic Maiden in 2018, upon his return to the circle, he won at Ballarat in a near best of the night time over the 390 metres in 22.32sec paying $29.
Coursing event number three last season saw Roger finish runner up at Benalla and then at Geelong the following start.
“Roger is such an honest dog who loves heading to the track,” Josh said.
“Coursing gives him a freshen up which is why I think he goes well when he heads back to the circle.”
