The famous Greyhound Adoption Days are back with the latest to be held at Sandown Greyhound Racing Club this Saturday.
More than 40 greyhounds are expected to find their forever homes at the event run by GRV’s Greyhound Adoption Program.
Our most recent adoption day was the first to be held in the Gippsland region, with 24 dogs adopted out at the Warragul Greyhound Racing Club.
Those not ready to adopt just yet are more than welcome to come along, have a pat and ask any questions of the experts from GAP who will be on hand.
Parking is free and refreshments are available.
All dogs who have passed the GAP process receive the customary green collar and are allowed to be walked in public without a muzzle.
As of January 1, 2019 all non-racing and pet greyhounds are permitted to be in public without a muzzle, regardless of whether they have been through the GAP process.
Last week, Greyhound Raicng Victoria launched a campaign to remind those who own a pet greyhound that despite the changes to muzzling requirements, they are still required to be on a lead at all times when in public.
For more information on the changes around muzzling legislation go to takeourlead.com.au.
