Striker Light’s return

Following two months on the sidelines Striker Light (pictured in box five winning the Warrnmabool Cup over Zoom Out, box eight) is making her return to racing in heats of the Group 2 Triple M Bendigo Cup, after sustaining a Triangle injury during preparation for the Sapphire Crown.

“Striker did her opposite triangle muscle to last time, but not as bad as the first one,” owner George Farrugia said.

“Brett and Kelly (Bravo) didn’t want to rush her back, they took her recovery slow by swimming and galloping her and she has been trialing really well since returning. Her first sectionals have been impressive which is a great sign.”

Striker’s return comes off the back of a successful Warrnambool Cup campaign which saw her claim the $67,000 feature over speedy Zoom Out.

On Sunday at Bendigo, Striker Light will jump from box one which has only seen her miss out on a placing once.

“We are wrapped with the box draw but there is no doubt she is going to need the run,” Farrugia said.

“There is a lot of speed in her heat and you don’t want to make a mistake with heats like these.”
