The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for heavy rainfall and a flood warning across Victoria over the next three days.
As of Friday morning, all Victorian greyhound race meetings scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday will proceed as normal with all relevant participants to be contacted via text message if the situation changes and appropriate communication issued via the GRV website.
The safety and welfare of greyhounds and participants is of paramount concern for GRV in assessing whether a race meeting or individual races on a program should proceed, be delayed or abandoned in all weather conditions.
Decisions to transfer or cancel meetings are made after careful consideration and consultation with the weather bureau and will also take into account travel routes to and from the venue.
Trainers that have greyhounds engaged at meetings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday have the option to scratch with all penalties lifted by calling GRV Member Services Department or online and are advised to check the following updates for regular weather and traffic warnings over the weekend.
