Vale Max MacDonald-Johnson

Hobby greyhound breeder and trainer Max MacDonald-Johnson passed away in sudden circumstances at the Cranbourne Greyhound Racing Club on Monday.

“He was about to load one of his greyhounds (Grand Hero) into the boxes in a qualy (qualifying trial) at Cranbourne when he complained he wasn’t feeling well,” daughter Leeanne explained.

“This is very sudden and unexpected, but if there’s one positive thing to come out of it, it’s that he died doing something he loved. Dad’s greyhounds were his life.”

Max, of Ferntree Gully, enjoyed success as a breeder, owner and trainer dating back to the 1970s, with some of his best greyhounds including Mink View, Zac’s Angel (pictured above), Zac’s Legend and Melissa’s Fire.
