Welcome along to this week’s edition of the North East weekly wrap. It included some terrific racing at Bendigo Friday, Healesville Sunday and Shepparton Monday Night.
We kicked off a big week last Friday where training honours were shared between Team Fisher and Peter Presutto. Team Fisher, led by Simone Fisher, trained three winners on the program which included Be Two Bomber (Race 5), who led all the way after carving across early, Senor Laurie, who was dynamic in Race 10 winning easily in fast time, and Zulu Retreat in Race 11, who was able to bounce back into winning after a string of placings and unlucky runs. Peter Presutto finished the day with a litter double, and the siblings couldn’t have been much more impressive. In Race 8 Conspiracy was well drawn and made the most of it, jumping to the lead and romping away for a dominant win in good time (Replay). He can keep winning, as can his kennelmate in Race 9, Revelling who was able to overcome a poor draw by winning effortlessly. He has now won three of 10 and his past two, so he might be finally starting to deliver on his promise.

Next up was Straight track racing at Healesville last Sunday and we saw a fantastic battle in Race 8 between the flying track specialist Gospel Lass and the very smart Knockabout Aussie. Gospel Lass was able to use its box to advantage early, pinching a gap on Knockabout Aussie and then clinging on. Knockabout Aussie was flashing home late but just missed, and that pair finished well clear of Kirabilli Rosie back in 3rd. The winner ran fast time and has developed a terrific affinity for the straight track. Other winners of note at the meeting were Black Mumbo in Race 3, the promising Snakhook Sticka in Race 5 and the exciting Nunya Tron (pictured) in Race 11, who has now won six of 13 and almost $100,000 in prizemoney.

The last meeting for the week was conducted at Shepparton on Monday evening, and the night was owned by Peter Dapiran as he finished the with three winners. The first of his winners was Zipping Meg, who was too strong for her kennelmate Zipping Laura in Race 4. His secondwinner was Ikari Spark in Race 5, who started at good odds but finished strongly to win nicely, while the last of his winning trio was Zipping Morgan in Race 9, who won the feature race on the program in good style. The Dapiran kennel is flying at the moment and it would pay to stick with them. The most impressive win of the night however belonged to Tat Jocko in Race 7. Pinging to the lead early, he safely held two smart greyhounds in Soda Man and To the Galo’s at bay and won in the electric time of 25.21 (Replay). If he can keep repeating that performance he will be winning better races for sure.
